Crime and Punishment

Fyodor Dostoevsky's masterpiece, Crime and Punishment, tells the story of Rodion Raskolnikov, an impoverished former student in Saint Petersburg who formulates a plan to kill an unscrupulous pawnbroker for her money. He defends the act by arguing that with the money he can perform good deeds, but soon finds himself consumed by guilt, paranoia, and a relentless psychological battle as he faces the consequences of his actions.
